Ein klein Vöglein wär' ich gern,
Schwirrt' um meinen guten Herrn.
Honig hat er auf den Lippen,
Und ich dürfte davon nippen;
Wann ich wollte, könnt' ich's wagen,
Niemals würd' er mich verjagen.
Und zum Dank pfiff' ich ihm Lieder
Stolz von seiner Schulter nieder.
Käm‘ der liebe Mondenschein,
Schlief' in seiner Hand ich ein -
Wär' ich nur sein Vöglein klein!
