  sind die Augen schon zu,
im Schlafe noch schluchzet 
  und kommt nicht zur Ruh';
wie das Meer, wenn's gestürmt hat, 
  ist der Sturm schon gebannt,
noch lang' seine Wellen 
  hintreibet zum Strand;
So das Herz, wenn's geliebt hat, 
  oft noch wogt es gelind,
und es schluchzet noch manchmal 
  im Traum wie ein Kind.

Wundersam Blühen, würziger Duft,
Plaudernde Quellen, wonnige Luft,
Alles, ja Alles, will mir in's Herz   --
Fort drum, von hinnen, eilig, o Schmerz!
