opus 16

Translations available for the entire opus: DUT

Heft 1 (Bauernlieder)
no. 2. Ich brach drei dürre Reiselein
 (Sung text)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Ich brach drei dürre Reiselein
vom harten Haselstrauch
und tat sie in ein Tonkrüglein,
warm war das Wasser auch.

Das war am Tag Sankt Barbara,
da ich die Reislein brach,
und als es nah an Weihnacht war,
da ward das Wunder wach.

Da blühten bald zwei Zweigelein,
und in der heilgen Nacht,
brach auch das dritte Reiselein
und hat das Herz entfacht.

Ich brach drei dürre Reiselein
vom harten Haselstrauch,
Gott lässt sie grünen und gedeihn,
Wie unser Leben auch.
