Kulkee kuun ja päivän silta yli vanhan kaarikaton lankee pinjan tumma varjo yli vanhan nurmimaton. Illan tiessä niin kuin aamun raunioilla mykkä palmu veriruusut, villi viini unhoituksen vieno valmu… Muurin luona vanha nunna niin kuin varjo liikkuu hiljaa hoitain pyhän yrttitarhan okahaista ruusuviljaa… Kukkaa kastaa, jälleen vaipuu rukoukseen oven pieleen: "Mater Dei, anna rauha ylpeään ja nurjaan mieleen!" "Anna rauha" toistaa pinjat palmut, ruusut, alla uksen synkät sypressit ja pienet univalmut unhoituksen…
