2. Der König im Kerker  [sung text not yet checked]

Language: German (Deutsch)
Die Nacht steigt [auf]1 die Berge,
ein Stern lugt ins Verliess.
Tiefatmend schläft der Scherge,
den man mich richten hiess.

Herr Jesus, in deine guten
Hände befehl ich mich,
darin die Väter ruhten
in Demut königlich.

Text Authorship:

  • by Richard von Schaukal (1874 - 1942), "Der Letzte", first published 1902

3. Sister, awake!  [sung text not yet checked]

Language: English
Sister awake! Close not your eyes,
  The day her light discloses,
And the bright morning doth arise,
Out of her bed of roses.

See the clear sun, the world's bright eye,
  In at our window peeping;
Lo! how he blusheth to espy
  Us idle wenches, sleeping!

Therefore awake! make Haste, I say,
  And let us, without staying,
All in our gowns of green so gay
  Into the park a-maying!

Text Authorship:

  • possibly by Thomas Bateson (c1570 - c1630), first published 1604

4. Som på blånande fjärda  [sung text not yet checked]

Language: Swedish (Svenska)
Som på blånande fjärdar vågorna
gå i glittrande, lekfull dans,
så glittra och leka lågorna
bakom din ögonfrans.

De smyga sig fram mellan lockarna,
som vinden rör då och då,
de spegla de flygande flockarna
av drömmar, som komma och gå.

Från fransarna faller det smekande
ett sken som ur skymningens värld.
Men innerst så ljust och så lekande
som solstänk på sommarens fjärd.

Text Authorship:

  • by Jarl Robert Hemmer (1893 - 1944), "Som på blånande fjärda", appears in Rösterna
