Vier Duette für Sopran und Alt mit Pianoforte , opus 132

by Ignaz Moscheles (1794 - 1870)

1. Des Lilien‑Mädchens Wiegenlied  [sung text not yet checked]

Language: German (Deutsch)
Schlafe, Kindlein hold und [weiß]1,
Das noch nichts von Sorgen weiß,
Schlaf in stiller, süßer Ruh,
Thu die kleinen Äuglein zu.

Draußen stehn die Lilien weiß,
Haben allerschönsten Preis,
Droben in der lichten Höh'
Stehn die Englein weiß wie Schnee.

Kommt, ihr Englein weiß und fein,
Wiegt mir schön mein Kindelein,
Wiegt sein Herzchen fromm und gut,
Wie der Wind der Lilie thut.

Schlafe, Kindlein, schlafe nun!
Sollst in Gottes Frieden ruhn;
Denn die frommen Engelein
Wollen deine Wächter sein.
