La donna del lago

Opera by Gioacchino Antonio Rossini (1792 - 1868)

4. Taci, lo voglio, e basti
 (Sung text)

Language: Italian (Italiano)
Taci, lo voglio, e basti;
meglio il dover consiglia:
mostrami in te la figlia
degna del genitor.
Di un passeggero orgoglio
perdono in te l'eccesso;
ti dica questo amplesso,
che mi sei cara ancor.

(si sentono da lungi squillar le trombe)

Ma già le trombe squillano!
Giunge Rodrigo! Oh sorte!
Io ti precedo: seguimi,
ed offri al prode, al forte
in puro omaggio il cor.

Di quelle trombe al suono
ah! Ridestar mi sento
nel core, di forze spento,
l'usato mio valor.
