Quina cosa, Déu meu, quina cosa!
és la cosa més trista d’enguany.
Se m’ha mort una rosa, la rosa;
se m’ha mort sense pena ni plany.
Ni la pluja ni el vent li han fet nosa,
ni ha mirat de collir-la l’estrany.
Se m’ha mort una rosa, la rosa,
que potser ni tenia averany.
Ni la bella il·lusió l’ha desclosa,
ni ses fulles puní el desengany.
Se m’ha mort una rosa, la rosa;
se m’ha mort tota sola en el tany.

Rossinyol, canta la glosa
d’una pena sense fi.
Més la rosa no s’hi exposa,

i criden clars en aixecar-se el dia.

O llavis, de la cara en la blancor
són escarlates de cruel bellesa.

De ferit us ha dada l’encesor?
Quin cor xuclàreu, que teniu tebior
d’alguna visa que va poc heu presa?

Suaument i augusta, va lliscant la barca
per les aigües tranquil·les del port.
Jove mariner qui la nau governa
bru de mans i cara m’ha robat el cor.

La vela llatina és gavina blanca
de vol majestàtic i a l’ensems ardit.
Jove mariner qui mena la barca
té el gest ample i gràcil d’un amor antic.

La barca lleugera obre en la mar blava,
com arada nova, profund solc de llum.
Jove mariner, de mirada clara,
encén en mon ànima un estrany perfum.

La tarda és daurada, flamegen les veles
i tot s’harmonitza dins d’un to suau.
Jove mariner canta amb veu molt dolça,
i s’eleva el càntic en el dia blau.

Suaument i augusta va lliscant la barca
s’allunya de pressa no és sinó un punt d’or.
Jove mariner, qui la nau governa
al lluny se n’emporta el meu pobre cor.
