Vattnet rörs och vinden spelar,
vind och vatten ta varann.
Bakom skogens glesa dungar
gula rågen gungar
av och an.
Det är bara du som felar.
Hjärtat saktar sina slag.
Jag hör svag musik som spelar
mig till sömns i dag.

Molnen glida lätt som vita
svanar över himlens sjö,
men de tiga där de fara,
svanar sjunga bara
när de dö.
Ont och tungt har jag fått slita,
det är tungt på tiggarstig.
Jag vill fara med de vita
svanarna till dig.

blunda i salighet, då regnets droppar flöda.
Men liksom trötta synder, tunga, runda,
osläckligt flammande pioner glöda.

Och medan än som brustna purpurtoner
i svarta mullen lösa blomblad dala,
ensamt och gällt som ebiga passioner
pionerna i aftondimman tala.

långt i försvunna tider,
nu är det kvälldags,
och trött min ungdom till vila skrider.
Irrbloss, som världen har tänt,
slockna så lätt i världen.
Stjärnöga, mycket har hänt,
sedan vi skildes på färden.
Villsam är vägen som går fram
genom mörka länder.
Stjärnöga, stjärnöga,
når jag aldrig mer dina händer?
Tag mina händer
och led mig in i ditt ljusa rike.
Stjärnöga, giv mig din fred
och låt mig varda din like.
