met blanke kele
en roden mond.
De rozen staan op hoge stelen,
een vogel luistert in het riet.
Dan sluimert 't kind in haren schoot;
haar ogen zijn van weelde groot
en in haar mond verzoemt het wiegelied.
De maanschil perelmoert in 't water,
maar in de schaduw sluipt de dood.
Gelukkiglijk, dat ziet ze niet,
Dat is voor later.
