Singe du, Büblein am Zaune! Singe, Büblein, und staune Den Wolken und dem zornigen Bach Und uns Wandergesellen nach. Wir müssen weiter, die Welt ist weit; Wer weiß, wo uns ein Bett bereit, Ein Bänklein, Schragen oder Schrein, Zu liegen, wenn wir müde sein. Und wer am Wege bleiben muß, Dem sagen wir den Scheidegruß Und wird mit Rasen zugedeckt Und wird ein Kreuzlein draufgesteckt. Wir suchen hier und suchen da Die Straße nach Schlaraffia; Bleib du daheim, du bist noch klein, Singe du, Bübelein!

Canta tu, noiet, a la tanca! canta noiet i meravella’t dels núvols i del rierol furiós i de nosaltres, companys de viatge. Hem de seguir endavant, el món és ampli; qui sap on hi haurà un llit prompte, una banqueta, un cavallet o un cofre per jeure quan estarem cansats. I a qui hagi de restar al marge del camí li farem salutacions de comiat, el cobrirem d’herba i li posarem una petita creu al damunt. Cerquem per aquí i cerquem per allà la ruta vers el país de Xauxa; queda’t a casa, tu ets petit encara, canta tu, noiet!
