Füllest wieder Busch und Thal Still mit Nebelglanz, Lösest endlich auch einmal Meine Seele ganz; Breitest über mein Gefild Lindernd deinen Blick, Wie des Freundes Auge mild Über mein Geschick. Jeden Nachklang fühlt mein Herz Froh- und trüber Zeit, Wandle zwischen Freud' und Schmerz In der Einsamkeit. Fließe, fließe, lieber Fluß! Nimmer werd' ich froh, So verrauschte Scherz und Kuß, Und die Treue so. Ich besaß es doch einmal, Was so köstlich ist! Daß man doch zu seiner Qual Nimmer es vergißt! Rausche, Fluß, das Thal entlang, Ohne Rast und Ruh, Rausche, flüstre meinem Sang Melodien zu, Wenn du in der Winternacht Wüthend überschwillst, Oder um die Frühlingspracht Junger Knospen quillst. Selig, wer sich vor der Welt Ohne Haß verschließt, Einen Freund am Busen hält Und mit dem genießt, Was, von Menschen nicht gewußt Oder nicht bedacht, Durch das Labyrinth der Brust Wandelt in der Nacht.

Omple de nou la malesa i les valls, en silenci, amb el teu boirós esclat, i finalment, una vegada més, allibera del tot la meva ànima. Escampa sobre el meu terrer el teu apaivagant esguard, com els ulls clements de l’amic, sobre el meu destí. Cada ressò emplena el meu cor del temps joiós i trist, camino entre la joia i el dolor en la solitud. Corre, corre, riu estimat! Mai més tornaré a estar alegre; quan s’han esvanit rialles i besades i àdhuc la fidelitat. Vaig posseir una vegada el que és tan valuós! El que per al propi turment no es pot mai oblidar. Fresseja, oh riu, al llarg de la vall, sense pausa ni repòs, fresseja, tot xiuxiuejant melodies al meu cant, quan tu a les nits d’hivern creixes amb desmesura o quan, a l’esplendor de la primavera, fas brotar joves poncelles. Benaurat aquell que del món es reclou sense rancúnia, que estreny al seu cor un amic i amb ell gaudeix, del que els humans no han sabut o ni tan sols han considerat, el que a través del laberint del cor vagareja per la nit.

Wie herrlich leuchtet Mir die Natur! Wie glänzt die Sonne! Wie lacht die Flur! Es dringen Blühten Aus jedem Zweig Und tausend Stimmen Aus dem Gesträuch, Und Freud und Wonne Aus jeder Brust. O Erd', o Sonne! O Glück, o Lust! O Liebe, o Liebe! So golden schön, Wie Morgenwolken Auf jenen Höhn! Du segnest herrlich Das frische Feld, Im Blütendampfe Die volle Welt. O Mädchen, Mädchen, Wie lieb ich dich! Wie glänzt dein Auge, Wie liebst du mich! So liebt die Lerche Gesang und Luft, Und Morgenblumen Den Himmelsduft. 2. Cançó de maig

Que esplèndida llueix per a mi la natura! Com brilla el sol! Com riallegen els camps! Surten flors de cada branca i mil veus del matossar, i joia i delit de cada cor. Oh terra, oh sol! Oh benaurança, oh goig! Oh amor, oh amor! Auri i tan bell, com els núvols del matí en aquells tossals! Beneeixes esplendorosament els camps frescals, en una bafor de flors, el món sencer. Oh noia, noia, com t’estimo! Com miren els teus ulls, Com tu m’estimes! Així estima l’alosa el cant i l’aire, i les flors del matí la flaire del cel, com t’estimo amb la sang ardent, tu que em dónes jovenesa i joia i ànim per a noves cançons i danses. Sigues feliç eternament estimant-me així!
