Language: German (Deutsch)
Wie glüht er im Glase! Wie flammt er so hold! Geschliffnem Topase Vergleich' ich sein Gold. Und Düfte entschweben Ihm blumig und fein. Gott schütze die Reben Am sonnigen Rhein! Durchbraust uns sein Feuer, So schmilzt unser Sinn Für Euch nur getreuer, Ihr Mädlein, dahin! Wir schwärmen von Rosen, Von Minnen und Frei'n. Gott schütze die Rosen Am sonnigen Rhein! Ob oft auch der Tropfen Den Trinker bezwingt, Herz-Drücken und Klopfen Die Schönheit uns bringt -- Wir wollen's vergeben, Vergessen, verzeih'n Den Rosen und Reben Am sonnigen Rhein!

How it glows in the glass! How lovely its flame! To polished topaz I can compare its gold. And the fragrances that waft from it Are flow’ry and fine. God protect the vines On the sunny Rhine! Its fire courses through us, And mellows our minds, For you only more loyal, Young maidens, away! We’re wild for roses, For love and for courtship. God protect the vines On the sunny Rhine! Although the drink often Subdues the drinker, The pressure and beating of our hearts Is brought to us by beauty - We want to surrender, Forget and forgive The roses and vines On the sunny Rhine!
