Dutch (Nederlands) translations of Sechs Lieder, opus 4

by Walter Schulthess (1894 - 1971)

1. Nach dem Fest
 (Sung text)
by Walter Schulthess (1894 - 1971), "Nach dem Fest ", op. 4 (Sechs Lieder) no. 3, published 1919 [ voice and piano ]
Language: German (Deutsch)
Von der Tafel rinnt der Wein,
Alle Kerzen flackern trüber,
Wieder bin ich denn allein,
Wieder ist ein Fest vorüber.

Traurig lösch ich Licht um Licht
In den still gewordnen Räumen,
Nur der Wind im Garten spricht
Ängstlich mit den schwarzen Bäumen.

Ach, wenn dieser Trost nicht wär,
Müde Augen zuzumachen...!
Und ich fühle kein Begehr,
Jemals wieder aufzuwachen.

2. Beim Schlafengehen
 (Sung text)
by Walter Schulthess (1894 - 1971), "Beim Schlafengehen ", op. 4 (Sechs Lieder) no. 4, published 1919 [ voice and piano ]
Language: German (Deutsch)
Nun der Tag mich müd gemacht,
Soll mein sehnliches Verlangen
Freundlich die gestirnte Nacht
Wie ein müdes Kind empfangen.

Hände, laßt von allem Tun,
Stirn vergiß du alles Denken,
Alle meine Sinne nun
Wollen sich in Schlummer senken.

Und die Seele unbewacht
Will in freien Flügen schweben,
Um im Zauberkreis der Nacht
Tief und tausendfach zu leben.

2. Bij 't slapengaan
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)
Moe van 't lange zonnelicht
Wil mijn vurigste verlangen
Liefdevol de sterrennacht
Als vermoeid klein kind ontvangen.

Handen, blijf maar op je plaats,
Hoofd, vergeet nu alle denken;
Al mijn zinnen op het laatst
Willen nu in slaap verzinken.

En de ziel wil zonder stuur
Nu op vrije wieken zweven,
Om in 't nachtlijk toveruur
Diep en duizendmaal te leven.
