Solang du nach dem Glücke jagst,
Bist du nicht reif zum Glücklichsein
Und wäre alles Liebste dein.

Solang du um Verlornes klagst
Und Ziele hast und rastlos bist,
Weißt du noch nicht, was Friede ist.

Erst wenn du jedem Wunsch entsagst,
Nicht Ziel mehr, noch Begehren kennst,
Das Glück nicht mehr mit Namen nennst,

Dann reicht dir des Geschehens Flut
Nicht mehr ans Herz, und deine Seele ruht.

1. Bonheur

Aussi longtemps que tu poursuis le bonheur,
Tu n'es pas mûr pour être heureux
Et pour que dure tout ce que tu chéris.

Aussi longtemps que tu gémis sur ce qui est perdu,
Et que tu as des buts, et que tu es frénétique,
Tu ne sais pas encore ce qu'est la paix.

Ce n'est que lorsque tu renonceras à chaque envie,
Que tu ne connaîtras plus de but ni de désir
Que tu ne donneras plus de nom au bonheur,

Alors le flot des événements
Ne t'atteindra plus au cœur et ton âme sera en repos.

Als daß man alles Schwere 
Alleine tut.
