Schleich' ich gern im Abendschein
An das öde Schilfgestade,
Mädchen, und gedenke dein!

Wenn sich dann der Busch verdüstert,
Rauscht das Rohr geheimnisvoll,
Und es klaget und es flüstert,
Daß ich weinen, weinen soll.

Und ich mein', ich höre wehen
Leise deiner Stimme Klang,
Und im Weiher untergehen
Deinen lieblichen Gesang.

Per viaranys secrets del bosc
m'agrada caminar, furtívol, al clar de lluna
fins la riba deserta del canyís,
tot pensant en tu, noia estimada!

Quan després es fa fosc en el matoll,
mormolen les canyes misteriosament,
i es planyen, xiuxiuegen,
tant, que haig de plorar, plorar.

I llavors em sembla sentir
el lleu ressò de la teva veu
i en l'estany enfonsar-se
el teu deliciós cant.

Weilt des Mondes holder Glanz,
Flechtend seine bleichen Rosen
In des Schilfes grünen Kranz.

Hirsche wandeln dort am Hügel,
Blicken [in]1 die Nacht empor;
Manchmal regt sich das Geflügel
Träumerisch im tiefen Rohr.

Weinend muß mein Blick sich senken;
Durch die tiefste Seele geht
Mir ein süßes Deingedenken,
Wie ein stilles Nachtgebet.

l’esclat encisador de la lluna,
trenant llurs pàl·lides roses
en la verda garlanda del canyís.

Cérvols corren allà al tossal,
alcen l’esguard a través de la nit;
de tant en tant ocells es belluguen
somiejant al fons dels joncs.

Plorant, haig d’abaixar el meu esguard;
al més profund de la meva ànima
passa un pensament de tu,
com una silent pregària nocturna.
