by Gottfried August Bürger (1747 - 1794)

Mir thut's so weh im Herzen!
Language: German (Deutsch)
Mir thut's so weh im Herzen!
Ich bin so matt und krank!
Ich schlafe nicht vor Schmerzen;
Mag Speise nicht und Trank;
Seh' Alles sich entfärben,
Was schön war rund umher.
Nichts, Molly, als zu sterben,
Nichts, Liebchen, wünsch' ich mehr.

Zwar könnte noch mich laben
Ein Kelch, der mir behagt:
Allein die Götter haben
Ihn meinem Durst versagt.
Wohl fleh' ich, ihn zu stillen,
Vergebens Dich und Sie.
Denn tränk' ich auch nach Willen,
ich stillt' ihn doch wohl nie.

Drum laß mich vor den Wehen
Der ungestillten Lust
Zerschmelzen und vergehen,
Vergehn an deiner Brust!
Aus deinem süßen Munde
Laß' saugen süßen Tod!
Denn, Herzchen, ich gesunde
Sonst nie von meiner Noth.
