Der Flieder duftet berauschend weich;
Ich küsse den Mund dir liebeheiß,
Dicht überhäupten uns blau und weiß
Schimmern die Blüten reich.
Blüten brachst du uns zum Strauße,
Langsam gingen wir nach Hause,
Der Flieder duftete liebeweich ...

Quiet, dreaming springtime night
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Quiet, dreaming springtime night . . .
The stars in the sky sparkled gently,
The moon was as broad as a silver shield,
In the branches there was a soft rustling.
Arm in arm and as in dreams,
Under the scented blossom trees
We walked through the springtime night.
The scent of the lilac is intoxicatingly soft;
In fervent love I kiss your lips,
Above us, blue and white, the blossoms
Form a canopy and shimmer opulently.
You picked blossoms for a bouquet for us,
We walked home slowly,
The lilac sent forth love-soft scents . . .
