Waait mij nu zoetjes,
   o zuchtende wind;
wiegt mij en douwt mij
   dat zuilende kind;
speelt om zijn wichtelijk
   aanzichtje en laat
Jesuken rusten: het
   slapen nu gaat.

Palmen, die roerende en
   wagende zijt,
stilt om mijn kindeke uw
   takken 'nen tijd;
engelkens, zoetjes, ach,
   Jesuken wilt
slapen: uw’ tonge en
   uw’ harpe nu stilt.

Vogelkes, zwijgt, die daar
   huppelt en springt;
dauwdruppels, zoetjes, en
   belt noch en klinkt;
zonne, uw machtige
   stralen verfrischt:
't kindeke Jezus … in
   slape … nu is ’t!
