Vaterland
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
Vaterland,
Ruh' in Gottes Hand.
Wenn wir deinen Namen nennen,
Wird das Herz so hoch entzückt;
Wenn wir deinen Werth erkennen,
Fühlen wir uns hoch beglückt.
Schütze Gott
Dich vor Noth;
Ruh' in seiner Hand,
Theures Vaterland!

Fried' und Ruh'
Wende Gott dir zu.
Nur auf milden Friedensauen
Kann, o Volk! dein Glück erblühn;
Nur bei hohem Gottvertrauen
Krönet Segen dein Bemühn.
Fasse Muth,
Gott ist gut;
Ruh' in seiner Hand,
Theures Vaterland!

Recht und Pflicht
Wanken ewig nicht.
Wo das Recht den Vorsitz führet,
Ruht auf ihm so fest der Staat;
Wo die Pflicht den Sinn regieret,
Folget Segen jeder That.
Fromm und frei,
Gott getreu,
Ruh' in seiner Hand,
Theures Vaterland!

Fatherland
NOTE: the footnotes have been removed from this text; return to general view
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Fatherland,
Rest in God's hand.
When we speak your name,
Our hearts are so greatly enraptured;
When we realize your worth,
We feel ourselves to be so greatly delighted.
May God protect
You from misery;
Rest in His hand,
Beloved Fatherland!

May God grant you
Peace and rest.
Only upon the gentle meadows of peace
Can, oh people! your happiness blossom;
Only with lofty trusting in God
Shall blessings crown your efforts.
Take courage,
God is good;
Rest in His hand,
Beloved Fatherland!

Right and duty
Do not waver eternally.
Where right presides,
The nation rests so firmly upon it;
Where duty governs the spirit,
Blessing follows every deed.
Pious and free,
True to God,
Rest in His hand,
Beloved Fatherland!
