by Franz Ferdinand, Freiherr von Dingelstedt (1814 - 1881)

Die Wolken ziehen schwarz und hoch
Language: German (Deutsch)
Die Wolken ziehen schwarz und hoch,
matt blinken die müden Sterne.
Wacht wohl mein holdes Mädchen noch,
mein Liebchen in der Ferne?

Es singt der Wind sein Wiegenlied
und schlägt an Fenster und Bäume.
Ob sie wohl herüber zu mir sieht,
versenkt in liebende Träume?

Die Woge schläft, die Welt ist still,
die Nacht hat den Tag vertrieben.
Mein heisses Herz nicht schlafen will,
es kann nur weinen und lieben.
