Nachtigall sing net so laut,
  Möcht'scht meĩ' Schätzle wecke.

Wo die schönschte Rösle sind,
  Ischt ihr Fenschterlädle; 
Mit de Rösle schpielt der Wind,
  Aber mir g'hört 's Mädle.

  Over bush and hedge!
Nightingale, do not sing so loudly,
  You might waken my darling.

Where the most beautiful roses are,
  That is her window-shutter;
The wind plays with the roses,
  But the maiden belongs to me.
