Sommeil

Dors près de moi, douce et blanche colombe,
  Déjà la nuit éteint le jour.
Au blond sommeil ta paupière succombe,
  Et l'oiseau chante un chant d'amour.

Quand viendra l'heure où voltigent les songes,
  Ne les crois pas, mon bel ange endormi,
Ferme ton coeur à leurs pâles mensonges
  Pour t'éveiller à la voix d'un ami.

La brise dort, et la fleur à l'abeille
  Vient de fermer son corset bleu.
L'onde est tranquille, et la vague sommeille;
  De tout brin d'herbe il s'exhale un aveu.

L'ombre naissant de la nuit embaumée,
  Fait comme un voile à ton sommeil.
Et moi, je rêve en mon âme charmée,
  Au doux baiser qui m'attend au réveil.
