Frühlingsregen, Frühlingsregen
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
Frühlingsregen, Frühlingsregen,
Fließ hernieder sanft und lau,
Komm, du letzter, bester Segen,
Voller Sehnsucht harrt die Au!

Was dem frohen Sonnenstrahle,
Allen Lüften nicht gelang,
Alles weckt mit einem Male
Nun dein leiser Fall und Klang.

Jedes Gräschen keck sich hebet,
Alle Knospen öffnen sich,
Jedes Hälmchen, neu belebet,
Freuet sich herzinniglich.

Wald und Wiesengrund sich schmücken
Mit der schönen grünen Zier,
Und ein neues Lied muß glücken
Jedem Vöglein im Revier.

Alle sträuben ihr Gefieder
Lustig auf den Ästen schwank,
Durch die würzge Luft tönt's nieder:
Warmer Regen, Dank dir, Dank!

Hast gelöset alle Bande,
Guter du, so sanft und mild,
Laß nun wieder ob dem Lande
Strahlen hell der Sonne Bild!

Spring rain, spring rain
NOTE: the footnotes have been removed from this text; return to general view
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Spring rain, spring rain,
Flow down gently and warmly,
Come, you last, best blessing,
The meadow is waiting for you full of yearning!

What the happy sunbeam,
What all breezes could not accomplish,
Everything is suddenly wakened
Only by your quiet falling and sounding.

Every little grass lifts itself up jauntily,
All buds open,
Every haulm, newly animated,
Is happy with all its heart.

Forest and meadow adorn themselves
With the beautiful green raiment,
And every birdlet in the territory
Must be successful in singing its new song.

All ruffle up their feathers
Merrily upon the swaying branches,
Down through the spicily scented air there sounds:
Warm rain, thank you, thanks!

You have loosened all restrictions,
You benevolent one, so gently and mildly,
Let now once again over the land
The sun shine brightly!
