by Matthias Claudius (1740 - 1815) and sometimes misattributed to Friedrich Gottlieb Klopstock (1724 - 1803)

Der Säemann säet den Samen
Language: German (Deutsch)

Was auch dies Leben

Was weinest du neben dem Grabe

In 1772 a different version appeared in Almanach der deutschen Musen, titled "Klagode, von Klopstock", according to Matthias Claudius: Language as "infamous funnel" and its imperatives, by Herbert Rowland.
