Die ihr mit dem Odem linde Jedes Blümchen küßt und grüßt, Sagt mir, laue Abendwinde, Wo ihr jetzt mein Mädchen küßt? Ob im Spiegel eines Quelles Sich ihr klares Bildnis malt, Oder ob das Antlitz helles Abendrot ihr überstrahlt? Ob sie Nachtigallen grüßen, Wo sie froh durch Büsche eilt, Oder neue Blumen sprießen, Wo ihr sanfter Fußtritt weilt? Flattert zu ihr, laue Winde, Sagt ihr, daß ich harre schon; Ihr zum Führer tragt geschwinde Mit euch meines Liedes Ton. Durch die blauen Lüfte webet Abenddämm'rung, ruhig, mild, Und vom Stern der Liebe bebet Sanfter Schimmer aufs Gefild'.
