Wie mancher nährt sich bloß vom schnöden courtesiren;
Das Männchen weiß sich nett und propre aufzuführen,
Kleid, Wäsche, Schuh und Strumpf ist kostbar, schön und neu, 
Als ob der junge Held von reicher Ankunft sei.

Doch fragt man heimlich nach, wer dessen Eltern waren,
So wird man zum Bescheid, das ärmste Volk, erfahren,
Der Vater ging ins Holz und hohlte Besem-Reiß,
Die Mutter trug sie feil um einen leichten Preis.
