Es singen und beten die Vögel
NOTE: the footnotes have been removed from this text; return to general view
Language: German (Deutsch)
Es singen und beten die Vögel,
Es raucht und dampft der Altar,
Und oben an seidener Decke
Da fliegt der Engel Schaar.

Bis jetzt ein Priester, ein hoher,
Empor die Hostie hält,
Umgeben von goldenen Strahlen,
Da leuchtet die Lieb' in die Welt.

Da schweigen die Vögel im Walde,
Da neigen die Blumen das Haupt,
Da haben ungläubige Tannen
An Jesus Christus geglaubt.
