Unterm Lindenbaum
 (Sung text for setting by V. Nessler)
 See original
Language: German (Deutsch)
Wir sassen am sonnigen Morgen
Dort unter dem Lindenbaum;
Wir träumten vom Lenze der Liebe
Den wunderbar seligsten Traum.

Vom Himmel da droben hernieder
Sah freundlich der Sonnenschein;
Die Glocke von ferne erklangen,
Sie luden zur Andacht uns ein.

Wohl steht in dem Gärtchen vor'm Hause
Noch immer der Lindenbaum;
Sie aber ist von mir geganben,
Die Liebe, sie war nur ein Traum.
