Language: French (Français)
Our translations:  CAT ENG GER GER

Composition:

    Set to music by Renée Philippart-Gonzalez (1905 - 1993), "Reflet", 1938 [ voice and piano ]

Der Bäume Schatten
(Sung text translation for setting by R. Philippart-Gonzalez)
 See original
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the French (Français)
Der Bäume Schatten auf verhang'nem Strome
zerlöst sich, gleich einem Phantome,
indes erschallt durch Zweig und Laube
der Klageruf der Turteltaube.

Wie ward doch, Wandrer, dieses fahl' Gefilde
zu deinem bleichen Spiegelbilde,
wie trauerte in hohem Laubesdome
dein Hoffen selbst, im Tränenstrome.
