I've tried to visualize
the part of my brain
that corresponds
to that invisible presence in my dream.
How tricky --
I have to imagine my eyes turning backwards,
then send them off swimming round the grey corners
to find the place.
But these glib fish are not up to their task:
I cannot see, only feel the throbbing painless spot.
Is this the unspeakable tumour
I fear so much?
