Language: German (Deutsch)
War ich liegend, müd' des Lebens,
Am Brunnen, Hände über mich
Gewölbt, was wir nicht wissen
War da zu helfen bereit.

Fühlte ich, ein Zweiter oben
Fliegend war ich, über Wiesen
Gewährte ich das Sein und Leben
Plötzlich weiter in der Zeit.

Ruhen möchte ich, erst mal
Weil die Hände mich erhoben
Und sie senkten mich hernieder
Durch alles hin: genesen und gestorben.

Und nächstes Mal in Trauer lebend
Will ich niemand der mich hebt.
Hände weg ! Selbst möcht' ich heben,
Fliegen, senken in die Ruh' der Seele.

Set to music by Wim Zwaag (b. 1960), no title, 2004 [ mezzo-soprano or baritone and orchestra ], from Symphony no. 1 - "In der Ruh' der Seele" , no. 2
