Tot de Mane
(Sung text for setting by E. Brengier)
 See original
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)
Och hoe schoone vaart gij daar,
helderblanke mane klaar,
hooge boven veld en wee,
drijvend in een wolkenzee!

't Dunkt mij dat gij weet en ziet
al wat u beneên geschiedt;
ai, en wilde of wenschte ik kwaad,
'k wierd benauwd voor uw gelaat.

Leedt alwie goedwillig is
door dees wereldwildernis,
en verlicht hem langs de baan
daar ik uw schoon beeld zie staan.

Schoon, doch schoonder duizendmaal,
Onbevlekte, is uw gestraal:
Gij, die zonne en sterre en maan
diepe doet in 't donker staan.
Spelling changes used by Brengier: Leedt -> Leid; schoonder -> schooner
