Hoe riekt gij, Bamisbosschen, goed
 (Sung text for setting by V. Nees)
 See original
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)
Hoe riekt gij, Bamisbosschen, goed,
als 't weder vei en vocht is;
en 't zunneken daar zit en broedt,
in 't vlies, dat op de locht is!

 ...

't Is 't leven dat den bosch verlaat;
en, met zijn' trage vlerke
vol wierooks, naar den hemel gaat
en stijgt, als in een' kerke.

 ...

Hoe riekt gij, groote boomen goed,
en kleene; en tusschen beiden,
uw' blaren, die met zalven zoet,
's jaars sterfbedde overspreiden!

 ...

o Bamisbosch, zij God van al
geloofd, die u betrekken;
en, zoekende in den bladerval,
daar zielentroost ontdekken!

Spelling changes used by Nees: vlerke -> vlerken
