Terve päivä pohjolahan
(Sung text for setting by L. Madetoja)
 See original
Language: Finnish (Suomi)
Terve päivä Pohjolahan,
Terve Suomehen suvinen aika!
Terve lepikot lehtimään,
Kullan käköset helkkymään,
Terve lämpimät lounatuulet,
Lemmen tuulet,
tuoksumaan --
Veet sinertämähän,
Maat vihertämähän,
taivahan auteret tanhuamaan!

Paistos armahin aurinko,
Hellitä hempeä huomen!
Pitkä, pitkä on Pohjan yö,
Kolkko on talvi Suomen.

Kauvan kattanut korpia on
härmän ja härmärän vyö.
Kauvan kuura
    peittänyt maan,
kauvan on huura
huokunut mielihin hallaa vaan --

Paistaos armahin aurinko,
    hellitä hempeä pouta,
että lähtisi sydänten jää
ja sulais rintojen routa!
