Ich stand so stark in dir
Im ungeheuren Schmerz.

Der Sturm der Zeitlichkeit
Währt eine kurze Weil,
Und führt das Glaubensschiff
Zum Ziel in großer Eil.

Das Meer liegt hinter mir, --
Ich steig ans Rettungsland;
Du aber grüßest mich
Und nimmst mich bei der Hand.

And with the storm my heart:
I was so strong in Thee
In the immense pain.

The storm of temporality
Lasts a short while,
And leads the ship of faith
To the goal in great haste.

The sea lies behind me,--
I step onto the land of salvation
Thou, however, greetest me
And takest me by the hand.
