Wenn durstig ihm des Morgens Feuer winken;
O wollte Gott, wie ihn der Sonnenstrahl,
Auch meine lebensmüde Seele trinken!

Im vollsten Glanz, in ungeschwächtem Blinken,
So still und schmerzlos möchte gern
Ich in des Himmels blaue Tiefe sinken.
