E, se talor di mordervi s’attenta
qualche pasciuto critico gaudente,
ditegli: Noi nascemmo a luce spenta,

noi ‘l grido siam de la sepolta gente,
di chi per voi sotterra suda e stenta,
e, paria invendicato, muor sovente.
