Ton cœur est content, ta voix peut chanter ;
Tes œufs sont éclos, et la bergerette
Ne t’écoute au loin que pour t’imiter.

De ton nid d’amour tu prends ta volée
Pour aller aux cieux dire ton bonheur ;
Sitôt que des cieux la route est voilée,
Tu reviens au nid reposer ton cœur.

Alouette, hélas ! sois toujours heureuse,
Au milieu des blés, du ciel et des fleurs !
Mais dans la saison qui rend amoureuse,
Demande à l’amour d’essuyer mes pleurs.
