Verklärung
(Sung text for setting by J. Marx)
 See original
Language: German (Deutsch)
Zuweilen in den tiefen Nächten
Kann ich dein sanftes Antlitz wiedersehn,
Ich höre wieder deine dunklen Bitten
Und fühle deinen Atem mich umwehn.

Nur ist in deine stillen Augen
Ein fernes Sternenlicht gekommen,
Und deinen wunderleisen Schritten
Ist jede Erdenlast genommen.

Aus Höhen dringt es zu uns nieder
Wie süßer Laut und sanftes Klingen,
Und über meinem dunklen Lager breiten
Zitternd sich deine Engelschwingen.

Composition:

Set to music by Joseph Marx (1882 - 1964), "Verklärung" [ voice and organ ], unpublished

Text Authorship:

  • by Robert Graf (1878 - 1952), "Verklärung", appears in Erinnerungen
