Serenade
(Sung text for setting by R. Langgaard)
 Matches base text
Language: Norwegian (Bokmål)
Paa en mandolin med smekkre,
Blanke sølverstrenges rade
Vil jeg spille dig, min elskov,
For en dæmpet serenade, Du! Du!
Medens nattevinden suser
Sagte i jasminers blade.

Maanen seiler guldbeg gjennem
Lette skyslørs matte flammer,
Aander alvefine straaler
Mellem havens tause stammer. Du! Du!
Jeg vil bede maanelyset
Stryge stilt ind i dit kammer.

Der er kun én fugl, som synger,
Dæmpet, lokkende histude,
Medens maanestraaler varsomt
Glider om din hvide pude. Du! Du!
Jeg vil bede fuglen nynne
Hele natten ved din rude.

Alle roser og jasminer -
Hvor de dufter allesteder.
Og igjennem juninatten
Deres sødme blødt sig breder. Du! Du!
Jeg vil bede alle blomster
Dufte for dig, hvor du træder.
