Sonne, sag mir -- die Sonne ist versunken --
Du funkelnder Stern, wo blüht der weiße Flieder?
-- Genug der Tulpen, ich hab mich satt getrunken.

Ich lag auf einem Blatt an einem Bauernhaus
Und regte lose die Flügel,
Da zog ein Durst nach weißem Flieder 
Über die Berge und über die Hügel.

Und über die Wasser und strömte durchs Land,
Und das Sehnen meine Flügel band.
Nun häng ich und träume wieder.
Wo blüht weißer Flieder?
