Language: French (Français)

Le beau galant s’en va
Trouver son capitaine:
«Bonjour mon capitaine,
Donnez-moi mon congé,
Pour aller voir ma belle
Qui n’ fait que d’y pleurer.»

Capitain’ lui répond
Comme un brave homme de guerre:
«Prends ta joli’ giberne
Et ton joli pass’port,
Et t’en va voir la belle
Et ti reviens d’abord.»

Le beau galant s’en va
Au logis de son père:
«Bonjour pèr’, bonjour mère,
Bonjour tous me parents,
Sans oublier la belle
Que mon coeur aime tant.»

Son pèr’ qui lui répond:
«Ta chère amie est morte,
Est morte et enterrée;
Elle est morte d’ennui,
Son corps repose en terre,
Son âme en Paradis.»

Le beau galant s’en va
Trouver son capitaine:
«Bonjour mon capitaine,
Me voici de retour.
Puisque ma belle est morte
Je servirai toujours.»
