Daheim!
(Sung text for setting by H. Esser)
 See original
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
Daheim! daheim! wie schwingt das Wort
Sich jubelnd von der Lippe fort!
Denn was mir Gott an Glück beschert,
Das schlingt sich, reich an Duft und Glanz,
Ein voller, frischer Blüthenkranz
Daheim um meinen Herd.

Daheim! daheim! nach Müh und Last
O wie so lockend winkt die Rast,
Wenn ich am Abend heimgekehrt,
Mir Gruß um Gruß entgegenklingt,
Und Weib und Kind mich froh umringt
Daheim an meinem Herd.

  Daheim! daheim! der Welt Gebraus
Umrauscht von fern mein stilles Haus;
Vergessen ist, was mich beschwert,
Vergeben ist, was mich gekränkt,
In Frieden ruht mein Herz versenkt
Daheim an meinem Herd.

 ...

Daheim! daheim! wenn Lied um Lied
Verklingt und Bild um Bild entflieht,
Nach oben ist mein Blick gekehrt,
Wo mich die neue Heimath grüßt,
Wenn brechend sich mein Auge schließt
Daheim an meinem Herd.
