Zuster godelieve
 (Sung text for setting by E. Tinel)
 See original
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)
Waneer men eene bruiloft viert
daar buiten, in de wereld,
daar troont de blanke bruid omkransd,
omsluierd en ompereld,
en hoort zich door de luide feest
begroeten van alom
en zalig heeten met haar trouwe
en haren bruidegom.

Maar in dit vreedzaam kloosterslot,
o geestelike bruid;
hier ziet er uwe bruiloft stil
en ingetogen uit;
want ja, hier wijkt het feestbeslag
voor de overmaat van eere
der godelieve maged die
de bruid wordt van ons Heere.
