Abendfrieden
(Sung text for setting by W. Heiser)
 See original
Language: German (Deutsch)
Die Vögel auf den Zweigen
Im kühlen, grünen Hain,
Die bergen unterm Flügel
Den Kopf und schlafen ein.
Am Himmelsrund, dem blauen,
Erglänzt der Sterne Pracht,
Und von den Sternen schauen
Die Engel in die Nacht.

Die heut' am Tag sich freuen,
Umfängt der Schlummer lind,
Und zu dem Ew'gen beten,
Die trüben Herzens sind.
Ein stilles Gottvertrauen
Auch sie nun selig macht,
Denn von den Sternen schauen
Die Engel in die Nacht.
