Sehnsucht nach Stille
(Sung text for setting by R. Stöhr)
 See original
Language: German (Deutsch)
Höhentlang
der Tag verraucht,
über die Felder
die Sehnsucht haucht:

Steigt aus dem Dämmer
dort nicht ein Pfad,
auf dem die Stille
des Abends naht?

Ein erster Stern
im weiten Kreise.
Engel der Ruhe
singen leise:

„Mach auf dein Herz,
schließ zu dein Haus,
dann ruht die Stille
bei dir aus."

Composition:

Set to music by Richard Stöhr (1874 - 1967), "Sehnsucht nach Stille", op. 54 (Fünf Lieder) no. 3, published [1918] [ voice and piano ], Leipzig: C.F.W. Siegel
