Ein Drängen ist in meinem Herzen
(Sung text for setting by J. Marx)
 Matches original text
Language: German (Deutsch)

Ein Drängen ist in meinem Herzen. Ein Beben
Nach einem großen, segnenden Erleben,
Nach einer Liebe, die die Seele weitet
Und jede fremde Regung niederstreitet.

Ich harre Tage, Stunden, lange Wochen,
Mein Herz bleibt stumm, die Worte ungesprochen,
In müde Lieder flüchtet sich mein Sehnen,
Und heiße Nächte trinken meine Tränen.

Composition:

Set to music by Joseph Marx (1882 - 1964), "Ein Drängen ist in meinem Herzen", 1909, published 1912 [ high voice and piano ], in Lieder und Gesänge, II. Folge, Nr.24

Text Authorship:

  • by Stefan Zweig (1881 - 1942), no title, appears in Silberne Saiten, first published 1901
