Still vom Frühlingsabendhimmel
 (Sung text for setting by F. Gernsheim)
 Matches original text
Language: German (Deutsch)
Still vom Frühlingsabendhimmel
Schwebt ein Wolkenkahn zu mir hernieder;
Durch das irre Weltgetümmel
Zieht er lautlos wie auf Traumgefieder.

Mein Geliebter lenkt den Nachen,
Gram und Inbrunst in den schönen Zügen.
"Heim ziehn alle, die noch wachen.
Komm und laß uns Seel an Seele schmiegen."

Langsam schwer in Abgrundsferne
Sinkt erlöschend der begrünte Hügel,
Und das Himmelreich der Sterne
Taucht aus seiner Augen dunklem Spiegel.
