Frühlings‑Wünsche
 (Sung text for setting by V. Lachner)
 Matches base text
Language: German (Deutsch)
O könnt' ich sein ein lichter Stern,
stets über dir zu geh'n,
dann dürft' ich, wärst du noch so fern,
dich, o Geliebte, seh'n.

Doch bist du in der Heimat hier,
möcht' ich die Schwalbe sein;
dann baute ich ein Nestchen mir
dicht an dein Fensterlein.

Käm' aber meine Wanderzeit,
nähmst du zu dir mich gleich
durchs Fenster; dann, o Seligkeit,
ging's in mein Himmelreich!

Composition:

    Set to music by Vinzenz Lachner (1811 - 1893), "Frühlings-Wünsche", op. 28 (4 Männergesänge) no. 3, published 1856 [ men's chorus ], Mainz: Schott
